Are your playgrounds safe?
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 200,000 children are treated annually for playground accidents. Of these, 70%, or 140,000 occurred at public parks and schoolyards.
Sponsored by the National Recreation and Playground Association and Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, this CPSI course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification and risk management methods offered.

How will this seminar benefit you and your organization?
Maintenance – Learn how to identify safety hazards on the playground, and the steps needed for correction.
Administration – Review of risk management techniques and liability problems, implementation of risk management programs. Learn how to conduct an audit of your playgrounds.
Resources – Become familiar with the US Consumer Products Safety Commission Guidelines and the ASTM Standard for Public Use of Playground Equipment Safety; identify the differences between them and their impact on playground safety.
Accessibility – Learn about safety in accessibility and the recommendations of the ASTM standard.
Surfacing – Become aware of the characteristics of the various surfaces used on playgrounds.
Computer Based Testing
The option to take the CPSI exam via computer based testing is available through NRPA. To obtain additional information please visit http://www.nrpa.org/cpsi. Candidates sitting for the exam must be 18 years or older and have a high school degree or equivalent. Upon successfully passing the exam, you will be certified through NRPA for a three year period. As of July 1, 2026 those who are already certified may renew their certification by acquiring 2.0 CEUs.
