OPRA is proud to announce a renewed partnership with GameTime, Playcore, and DWA Recreation to promote the Statewide Healthy Play Initiative. This initiative supports the creation of evidence-based play and recreation spaces across Ohio through education and funding.

Four free professional development opportunities will be held in early November and will provide training to parks and recreation professionals, landscape architects, and other play advocates of the role of play in building healthier communities.

OPRA member organizations participating in these education sessions will be eligible to apply for matching funding of up to 100% for new playground sites which prioritize inclusion, nature integration, physical activity, and adult fitness. Funding recipients will also receive outcome reports highlighting the benefits of play and featuring specific data for each new site. OPRA will receive comprehensive data on all sites, which will be used in advocacy efforts emphasizing the importance of the work of parks and recreation around the state.

Funding decisions will be made in late 2025, with projects to be completed in 2026.
