Region 1 Networking Event: Ruihley and Woodland Parks

      

Two exciting projects in the Village of Archbold came to fruition solely from funds donated by businesses, organizations, and citizens over the last few years. In 2020, the first project idea of a new splash pad was presented. Fundraising of almost $450,000 began in 2021, and community residents will finally be able to enjoy the Ruihley Park Splash Pad this spring in spite of numerous struggles with the health department, manufacturer cost increases, and struggles to find qualified installers.

Additionally in 2022, a passionate group of individuals approached the park board with the second project idea of a disc golf course at Woodland Park. Woodland Park is a 60-acre park in Archbold that is home to football and soccer programs, as well as, an amazing playground, basketball courts, and sledding hill. Twenty acres of heavily wooded park has made for a unique home to the Creaking Woods Disc Golf Course. A steering committee raised all necessary money, cleared paths, installed baskets, created an app, offered educational sessions, and they continue to be active in maintaining and upgrading the course.

We will visit the Ruihley Park Splash Pad and then have the option to enjoy a round of disc golf at Woodland Park. Lunch will be served family-style from Brookview Farms Meats & BBQ.
